In many ways the Galapagos Islands defy belief not only in the unique and raw beauty of the landscape but in the array of creatures which have morphed and adapted to suit their surrounds.
Each day spent exploring both land and sea brought simply incredible experiences with nature and wildlife.
I hope that this gallery of images gives a glimpse into the wonders that make the Galapagos such a special destination.

47 imagesMany of the images in the gallery consist of Frigate birds which seemed to escort us each day as we sailed from island to island.

41 imagesOne of the newer islands in the archipelago, Isla Bartolome is also home to Pinnacle Rock which is one of the most well known landscapes in the Galapagos.

64 imagesThe wander around Punta Espinosa on Isla Fernandina was truly stunning in the late afternoon. Flightless cormorants standing on the lava encrusted shores drying their emaciated wings and alot of marine iguanas lazing in the sunshine were just a couple of the highlights.

212 imagesWe made numerous visits to Isabella Island as we sailed from top to bottom along the west coast which enabled us to experience the diversity of landscapes and environment on offer.

132 imagesNorth Seymour Island and the nesting Frigate Birds blew my bird-watching mind! These massive pre-historic looking birds which have wingspans of up to 2.3 metres were simply sitting in smallish Saltbush trees and watching us wander past.

98 imagesThe vibrant Sally Lightfoot crabs on Bachas Beach added so much colour to an already picturesque landscape. The island is also home to a population of Giant Tortoise which roam the highlands.

202 imagesThe black sand beach and tidal pools of Puerto Egas in James Bay is a bit of a wildlife mecca with birds, sea lions, seals and of course iguanas at every turn. The coastal landscape of nearby Buccaneer's Cove and cliffs around Espumilla Beach are just as spectacular.

17 imagesThe snorkelling in the Galapagos on the whole is just awesome. These very few images don't, in my mind, convey anywhere near the diversity of marine life we experienced.
